Recapping The Surf City Marathon in Huntington Beach

by Kimber Wuerfel

On Sunday morning, Michelle Jacobsen of Newport Beach emerged as the winner of the 27th annual Surf City Marathon for women. With a time of 2 hours, 57 minutes, and 41 seconds, Jacobsen outran all other female competitors in the 26.2 mile race.

The Surf City Marathon took runners through various scenic routes, including all six lanes of Pacific Coast Highway in Huntington Beach, Central Park, the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve, and a beachfront running path.

After chasing the lead female runner until the 24th mile, Jacobsen took the lead and ultimately secured her victory. This was Jacobsen's second win in the women's Surf City Marathon, having previously won in 2021.

In the men's marathon, Jason Yang of Los Angeles came in first place with a time of 2:29:01, followed by Ruben Gonzalez of Anaheim in 2:41:37. Meanwhile, Robert Miranda of Venice won the men's half marathon in 1:05:03, and Elizabeth Camy of Simi Valley won the women's half marathon in 1:18:40.

The 5K race had its own set of winners as well, with Ismael Samano of Los Angeles winning the men's race in 15:25 and Rachel Miura of Laguna Hills winning the women's race in 18:00.

Overall, the Surf City Marathon, Half Marathon, and 5K race saw the participation of more than 15,000 runners, walkers, and wheelchair athletes.
