The Importance of Working with Experienced Realtors

The real estate industry can be lucrative and exciting, which is why many people aspire to become realtors. However, statistics show that only a small percentage of new realtors last more than five years in the business. Even those who do continue working in the industry struggle to make a mark, with only 13% achieving significant success.

With these figures in mind, it's important for potential homebuyers and sellers to be cautious when choosing a realtor to represent them. They need to know who they're dealing with and whether they're experienced enough to handle a transaction worth hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars.

In this video I highlight the importance of working with experienced realtors. We’ve been in business for over 20 years and sold over 700 homes. We work 7 days a week and 365 days-a-year – and don’t plan on slowing down anytime soon.

The Real Estate Market in Orange County

What’s up with the current state of the real estate market in Orange County, California. The average home price in the area is around $1 million, which means that a realtor handling a transaction is dealing with a significant amount of money.

However, trusting someone who is inexperienced with a transaction of this magnitude can be risky. Many realtors join and leave the business after just a few years, so it's crucial to know a realtor's level of experience before hiring them.

The Importance of Experience in the Real Estate Industry

Why is experience so important in the real estate industry? For starters, an experienced realtor knows how to navigate the complexities of the market. They have seen various market conditions and have learned how to adapt to changing circumstances. This means they can provide valuable insights and guidance to their clients, particularly when it comes to pricing their property.

An experienced realtor is also familiar with the legal aspects of a transaction. Real estate transactions involve a lot of paperwork and contracts, and it's vital to have someone who knows how to read and understand these documents. An experienced realtor can catch errors, make corrections, and ensure that everything is legally binding and, in the client’s, best interest. Before joining our team, one of our members had to pay an additional $2,000 during a real estate transaction because an inexperienced buyer’s agent didn’t fill out their counteroffer correctly.

Moreover, an experienced realtor has a vast network of contacts in the industry. They know other real estate agents, brokers, mortgage lenders, inspectors, and contractors who can help their clients. This network can be invaluable in finding the right property, negotiating the best deal, and closing a transaction successfully.

Why the Real Estate Market Doesn't Slow Down

The video clip also debunks the myth that the real estate market slows down during the holidays. While it's true that some realtors take time off during this period, full-time realtors don't stop working. For them, real estate is a year-round business that doesn't take breaks.

This is particularly true in Orange County, where the real estate market is always active. With high demand and limited inventory, properties can sell quickly, and realtors need to be on their toes to get the best deals for their clients.

Choosing the Right Realtor

Given the importance of experience in the real estate industry, how can homebuyers and sellers choose the right realtor to work with? Here are some tips:

Look for a full-time realtor: As the video clip highlights, working in real estate requires full-time commitment. Part-time realtors may not have the same level of experience or knowledge as those who work in the industry full time.

Check their track record: Look at a realtor's past transactions and see how successful they have been. Have they handled transactions similar to yours?

Overall, we recommend digging a little deeper into a realtor’s experience level before choosing someone to represent you or your property. Swing by our boutique shop in Huntington Beach, CA and ask for Kimber to learn more.
